Hooray for the Holidays!
This year, the Celebration in the Oaks Run/Walk will be held in beautiful Lafreniere Park! This run/walk will gives locals the chance to participate in one of the most festive holiday events in the country! This 2-mile course takes participants through Lafreniere and ends near the walking light display tour!
The race, which begins at 3pm, is especially popular among families. Many of those running and walking this event do so with strollers or children right by their side. Children 3 - 10 years old receive $5 off the cost of registration. Children under 3 years do not need to register to participate in the race or enter Christmas in Lafreniere Park Lights Display.
Lafreniere Park sparkles for the holidays with millions of twinkling lights and displays! Constructed with over 10 million LED lights, the exhibit features elaborate decorations and festive lighted displays. The park's festive displays include traditional Christmas lighted figures, the 60 foot Sea Serpent in the lagoon, and many NOLA favorites! The event is filled with hot cocoa, a visit with Santa, a holiday costume contest, and much more!
Run competitively or enjoy a leisurely walk through the park with friends and family. After the race, participants can enjoy free refreshments and complimentary entry into both the Christmas in the Park Lights Driving Tour AND the Walking Tour of the beautifully lighted Pavilion Island BEFORE the gates are open to the general public!

Enjoy Community Coffee Hot Chocoloate, FREE pictures with Santa, and inflatables and face painting. Costumes are encouraged!
Participants will be able to enjoy the walking light tour in Lafreniere Park after the race. Food trucks will be on-site for snack purchases. More details coming soon!

Current Covid-19 Guidelines:
•The Christmas in Lafreniere Park, in its entirety, will take place outdoors in Lafreniere Park. This will provide a large space for sufficient social distancing.
•Because the entire event takes place outdoors, masks are optional/NOT required.
•Proof of vaccination and negative Covid-19 tests are NOT required. Please stay home if you have been exposed to Covid-19 or have any symptoms.
•Traditional water stations will be provided to participants. If you do not feel comfortable to partake, please bring enough water to keep yourself safely hydrated during the event.
•Hand sanitizer stations will be available at the restroom area and other areas throughout the venue.
